Relationship Therapy, Couples Therapy & EMDR in Derbyshire
Therapy for when relationships feel harder than they should

Based in Cubley, near Ashbourne, I offer relationship therapy, couples therapy, EMDR, and psychotherapy for individuals and couples across Derbyshire.
I work with people who feel stuck in painful emotional and relational patterns patterns that continue to repeat despite insight, effort, or previous therapy.
You may find yourself overthinking, emotionally overwhelmed, or caught in the same arguments again and again. Perhaps you try to keep the peace, over-give, or hold everything together, yet still end up feeling disconnected, resentful, or unseen within your relationships.
At times, relationships can begin to feel exhausting, confusing, or painfully distant. You may long for closeness and connection, yet still find intimacy difficult, or notice yourself reacting in ways you do not fully understand.
Often, these patterns have deeper roots shaped by earlier emotional experiences where your needs were not fully seen, understood, or safely held. Over time, this can affect the way you relate to yourself, your emotions, and the people closest to you.
My work focuses not only on understanding these patterns, but helping you begin to shift the emotional experiences that keep them in place.
Individual Therapy in Derbyshire
Individual therapy can help when life begins to feel emotionally overwhelming, disconnected, or stuck in repeating cycles.
Many of the people I work with appear to cope well externally while internally struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low self-worth, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, or a persistent sense of not feeling “enough.”
You may notice yourself becoming highly self-critical, emotionally reactive, shut down, or disconnected from your own needs. Even when you understand why you feel the way you do, it can still feel difficult to create lasting change.
Together, we begin to make sense of these experiences while working towards a stronger sense of emotional safety, self-understanding, and connection both within yourself and in your relationships.
Couples Therapy in Derbyshire
Couples often come to therapy feeling caught in repetitive cycles of conflict, distance, misunderstanding, or emotional disconnection.
You may both care deeply about one another, yet still feel stuck in patterns where communication escalates quickly, one person pursues while the other withdraws, or the same arguments continue without resolution.
Over time, this can begin to affect emotional and physical intimacy, leaving both partners feeling hurt, frustrated, lonely, or unseen.
In couples therapy, we work to understand the emotional cycle beneath the conflict helping both partners feel more emotionally safe, understood, and connected.

EMDR Therapy in Derbyshire
EMDR therapy can help when past experiences continue to affect how you feel, respond, and relate in the present.
Sometimes trauma is obvious. At other times, it may show up more subtly through emotional overwhelm, relationship triggers, anxiety, panic, shame, or a deep fear of rejection or abandonment.
I integrate EMDR alongside approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Schema Therapy, allowing the work to support both emotional healing and relational change
Supporting Clients Across Derbyshire
Sessions are available in person at my private practice in Cubley, on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border, or online across the UK and Europe via Zoom.
The practice is conveniently located near Ashbourne and Uttoxeter, within easy reach of Derby, Burton upon Trent, and Stoke-on-Trent, and just five minutes from the A50 Sudbury roundabout.
My Approach
My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Schema Therapy.
I specialise in helping individuals and couples move beyond surface-level coping strategies and begin changing the deeper emotional patterns driving distress, conflict, and disconnection.
Over time, therapy can help you feel more emotionally secure, more connected in your relationships, and more able to respond differently rather than becoming pulled into the same painful cycles.
Fees
Individual & Couples Therapy – £110 per 50-minute session
