About Me and the Way I Work
Nicola Griffiths Reg MBACP
Founder & Director at Live Life Happy Therapy
Individual & Couples Relational Psychotherapist

You might feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in painful relationship patterns, or unsure how to move forward. Whether you're struggling in your relationship, or feeling consumed by self-doubt or anxiety, therapy can offer a calm, compassionate space to pause, reflect, and begin to rebuild.
I work with individuals and couples carrying the weight of past relational wounds, such as betrayal, emotional neglect, or the lingering feeling of never being quite “enough.” Some of my clients identify as emotionally sensitive and easily affected by others; others feel numb or disconnected from their emotions entirely. Many feel torn between the longing for deep connection and the fear of being hurt again.
I’m a relational psychotherapist specialising in complex trauma, especially the kind rooted in early relationships or long-term emotional overwhelm. I integrate Attachment-Focused EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Schema Therapy / IFS (parts work) to help clients process emotional pain, shift unhelpful patterns, and reconnect with themselves and others in a meaningful way.
Sessions are available in person at my private practice in Cubley, Derbyshire, or online across the UK and Europe via Zoom. I’m conveniently located just 10 minutes from Uttoxeter and Ashbourne, and within 20 minutes of Stoke-on-Trent, Burton upon Trent, and Derby, just five minutes off the A50 Sudbury roundabout.
While my focus is on providing long-term therapy, I understand that some clients may prefer shorter-term support. I offer a limited number of short-term therapy blocks, depending on availability and your individual needs. Sessions are held weekly, as I’ve found consistency is key to creating meaningful and lasting change. Ad hoc sessions may occasionally be available, feel free to get in touch to ask about current openings.
I offer an inclusive, affirming space where you can be fully yourself. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and am a neurodivergent- and LGBTQ+ friendly therapist who values openness, honesty, and authenticity in the therapy relationship.
You're welcome to contact me by email, text, or phone if you'd like to ask any questions or arrange a brief introductory chat before booking a first session.
I’m a fully qualified, accredited registered member of the NCPS and a member of the BACP. I adhere to both organisations’ ethical codes, and maintaining professional integrity and confidentiality is at the heart of my work at Live Life Happy Therapy.
Alongside my own practice, I’m the founder and clinical director of Live Life Happy Therapy, where I also lead a small team of associate therapists and final-year student practitioners. This allows us to offer more availability and accessible low-cost therapy options, while staying true to our core values of compassion, integrity, and personalised care.
