Individual & Couples Relationship Therapy

Hi, I’m Nicola - UKCP Accredited Relationship Psychotherapist,
EMDR | Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) | Schema Therapy
Therapy for relationships, trauma, and intimacy
Helping you move from feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed; to feeling more secure, understood, and connected
You might be coming to therapy feeling caught in patterns that keep repeating, even when you’re trying your best to change them. You may notice a persistent sense of self-doubt, or feel as though you are never quite “enough.” Relationships can begin to feel difficult, showing up as conflict, distance, or a growing sense of disconnection.
For some people, emotions can feel overwhelming and hard to manage. For others, there can be a sense of shutting down or feeling disconnected altogether. Both experiences can feel deeply painful and lonely, especially when they begin to affect your closest relationships. Often, these patterns are rooted in earlier experiences, such as emotional neglect, betrayal, or relationships where your needs were not fully seen or met.
Over time, this can also begin to affect your experience of intimacy and sex. You might notice a loss of desire, differences in libido, or a sense of pressure or anxiety around performance. Sometimes it can feel as though you have become disconnected not only from your partner, but from yourself.
I work with individuals and couples using Attachment-Focused EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFCT), and Schema Therapy. Together, we explore how past experiences continue to shape present relationships, helping you process emotional pain, shift unhelpful patterns, and build stronger, more secure connections - with others and with yourself.
Over time, this leads to a stronger sense of self, more open and honest communication, and a greater capacity for emotional and physical intimacy. As this work deepens, people feel more secure, more connected, and more at ease both within themselves and in their relationships, with small shifts often noticeable early on and more lasting change developing over time.
Working with me offers a contained, supportive space to understand yourself more deeply and begin creating changes that feel meaningful and lasting. Choosing therapy is a commitment to yourself, an investment in your emotional wellbeing, your relationships, and the life you want to live.
Sessions are available online across the UK and Europe, and in person in Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The practice is situated - just five minutes from the A50 Sudbury roundabout, 10 minutes from Uttoxeter and Ashbourne, and within 20 minutes of Derby, Burton upon Trent, and Stoke-on-Trent.

Individual Therapy - £100 per 50-minute session

What Brings People to Therapy
Relationship Difficulties
You may find yourself stuck in repeating patterns, struggling to communicate, or feeling disconnected from the people who matter most. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and create more secure, fulfilling relationships.
Complex or Past Trauma
When earlier experiences continue to shape how you feel about yourself or others, it can leave you living in a constant state of alertness or emotional exhaustion. Together, we work gently and safely to process what has been carried for too long.
Emotional Overwhelm
Perhaps you appear to be coping on the outside while internally feeling anxious, low, or stretched beyond capacity. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of your emotions, and regain a steadier footing.
Attachment & Connection
You might long for closeness yet fear it at the same time, or notice sensitivities around rejection, trust, or feeling “not enough.” Understanding your attachment patterns can open the door to deeper, more secure connection.
Couples Therapy
Relationships can become strained when partners feel unheard, misunderstood, or alone within the relationship. Couples therapy helps you move out of painful cycles and toward greater understanding, emotional safety, and reconnection.
Intimacy & Sexual Difficulties
You may be experiencing a loss of desire, differences in libido, or feeling disconnected from your partner physically. You might also notice anxiety around intimacy, pressure to perform, or difficulties such as erection problems, lack of orgasm, finishing too quickly, or pain during sex. This can feel confusing or isolating. Together, we explore this safely and without judgment, helping you feel more comfortable, connected, and at ease within yourself and your relationships.
